The 1990s

  • Mondaine
    Official Time-keeper for the CSI equestrian event in Zurich (1997-2000).
    Official Time-keeper for the Tour de Suisse (1992-1994).
    Development of world’s first post-consumer recycling watch, recipient of World Ecology Award.
    Recipient of German Design Plus award for innovative design and ecological concept.
    Mondaine “Meeting Point” in Zurich main train station is inaugurated.

    Luminox
    Assistant RDT&E Officer for the Navy SEALs, Nick North worked with Cohen to develop a watch specifically for the Navy SEAL’s (1993).

    M-WATCH
    5’000’000 watches sold in Switzerland.

    Camel Trophy
    Global licensor for Camel Trophy Adventure Watches.

The 1980s

  • Mondaine
    Establishment of the Mondaine International Service Organization (MISO) after-sales service network.
    Exclusive license agreement with Swiss Federal Railway (SBB).
    Establishment of Mondaine Swiss Watch (Far East) Ltd. in Hong Kong.

    Luminox
    Barry Cohen and Richard Timbo partner up and Luminox is born.

    M-WATCH
    Development of M-WATCH and market launch with Migros.
    M-WATCH world innovation: waterproof plastic watch without the need of a metal pressure bezel.

The 1970s

  • Mondaine
    Development of digital watches (LED) in collaboration with Hughes Aircraft and world’s first digital watches with LCD, with BBC/ABB Group.
    Launch of world’s first consumer-programmable LCD watches with microprocessors.
    Introduction of first solar quartz watch with both analog and digital displays.

The 1960s

    Remonta AG is established and a factory is built in Biberist/Switzerland to manufacture lever watches.

The 1950s

  • Mondaine
    Mondaine Trademark is registered and Mondaine Watch Ltd. is established by taking over Neuchatel Watch which was established in 1928.
